Russan Religion
Russia is composed of three major religions, are:
- Russian Orthodox: is the main religion in Russia, holding more than 70% of it. During the era of socialism was the official religion of Russia, however, suffered much persecution taking their parishes destroyed or converted to other purposes. Its members were persecuted, killed, jailed or sent to labor camps. After the fall of socialism, the church began to grow again, but those are few practitioners of religion.
- Muslim: It is the second largest religion in Russia with about six million followers. Are mostly Sunni and live in the Volga region and the North Caucasus.
- Buddhism: Like the Russian Orthodox religion, many Buddhist monks were arrested and killed, as well, hundreds of temples were destroyed and burned. With the end of the Soviet era many temples were rebuilt. Also opened up Buddhist centers in cities like Moscow and St. Petersburg. Even with the opening of religion, many are those who call themselves atheists and even more so those who are not religious practitioners.
